Using SILQ

Why do new tabs keep opening when I click on a new matter or other parts of the software

This is done deliberately and what we call tab management. The reason we do this is to help you get to where you want to go faster.

The way solicitors work in terms of matter management is very different to other industries, and as a Solicitor what you do in SILQ is different still to what you would do in another software program because of the nature of Matter Management.

The Matters page in particular is something you navigate to and from regularly. There would be certain matters that you work on on a daily basis and you would navigate from one of those matters to the other regularly throughout the day as well.

To ensure that you get to where you want to go quicker, we have implemented tab management so that you only (for example) have to load the matters page once per logged on session. Similarly, if you are working on matter 10001 you only have to load the information in time & billing once per day also. This happens with most pages in the software.

Basically, if you kept loading each page every time you wanted to navigate there, you would get the impression that SILQ is slow, but really it is just because you are consistently having to reload the same information which is inefficient.

The way it works is that if you already have a tab open for Matter 10001 but you are on the matters page and click on that matter again, then SILQ will automatically open the already open tab for Matter 10001. Same type of scenario will happen across the software.
