This release includes many new features and updates requested by you. Thank you to all our clients who gave feedback. We focused on what matters most to your practice right now: security, compliance, and time.
We have releases for both Barristers and Solicitors, plus some AML and Protected Trust updates.
For both Barristers and Solicitors:
🎉 SOC 2 Type 2 recertification 🔒
We’ve recently recertified our SOC II, Type 2 compliance. SOC II Type 2 is the gold standard for data security, and it’s independently audited. SILQ passed with flying colours.
Review documents without leaving the platform
🔥Hotly requested: The document preview pane now renders PDFs (.pdf) and Word documents (.docx) fully and clearly. Confirm you have the right version and review the content without downloading files or switching applications.
Additional document improvements include:
- Right-click any document for immediate access to action options.
- Navigate between documents using next/previous buttons without losing your place in the list.
- Copy a document from one matter to another in a few clicks.
- Column sort order is now saved so your preferred view is there when you return.
Streamlined workflows
Some new features plus improvements to your workflows include:
-
- ❗New "But Say" field in PDF invoice templates lets you add specific billing instructions or client-facing notes directly to the invoice.
-
Fixed a timer issue when you select a rate that isn't rate 1. Previously, when stopping this timer, SILQ would calculate based on rate 1, not on what you selected. This is now rectified.
- Double-click an invoice to open it immediately.
- When saving multiple emails to the register via Add to Register, you are now prompted to confirm whether to save all tagged emails or only the selected one so nothing is filed to the wrong matter inadvertently.
- The Company contact card now includes a Company tab with Salutation and Position fields for cleaner, more complete records.
- For matters marked as Inactive, Not Proceeding, or Prospect, Matter Status, status text and notes now appear on the dashboard.
Exclusively for Solicitors
Know Your Business – Supporting AML workflows ahead of July 1
With new AML/CTF obligations taking effect 1 July, verifying the identity of business entities is a compliance requirement.
- A dedicated Know Your Business (KYB) option is now part of your Company contact creation workflow, so business verification is captured at intake.
- A Submit SMR (Suspicious Matter Report) button is also now available inside SILQ. When a report is required, file it promptly with a clear audit trail.
Trust updates
Protected Trust tab in the invoice view allows you to see protected Trust details without navigating away.
