What do I need to know about importing data from FilePro?

When migrating data from FilePro, there are some things that should be checked beforehand and tidied up if required.

To ensure a smooth and accurate transition into SILQ, it’s important to review and clean up key areas in your FilePro database before the migration begins. Addressing these items early can help prevent discrepancies, reduce post-migration adjustments, and ensure that your data is imported correctly and efficiently.

  • Matter Types/Classes:
FilePro allows customisation of matter types and matter class fields. As such, if you have customised these fields, SILQ will need to know what they are so that we can map them. Otherwise, they will all be imported into SILQ under the general matter class by default.
If you’d like us to match your existing FilePro classes to those available in SILQ, we’ll need a list of the matter types/classes used in FilePro so we can align them accordingly.

  • Custom Fields in Contacts:
Do you use any custom fields in the contacts section of FilePro? If so, please provide a list of these fields so we can determine how best to align them with SILQ’s contact structure. A screenshot showing these fields in FilePro will also be helpful for accuracy.
  • Contact Classification:
In FilePro, contacts that do not have the “Individual” flag ticked are automatically imported into SILQ as companies.

  • Company Contacts:
If a contact is added to a company in FilePro as just a name (without full contact details), SILQ will create an individual contact card for that person and link it to the primary company contact. There’s nothing you need to action here, but it’s important to be aware of this behaviour in case it impacts your workflows. If you believe this may cause issues, please raise it with your onboarding manager prior to the import.
