What data does SILQ Migrate?
Our dedicated sales & support teams will help you import your information from your old software into SILQ, making the transition as easy as possible. Below is what we import.
You may be sticking with inferior practice management software because you feel it would be too difficult or expensive to migrate your matters, contacts & time and billing data to a new software.
At SILQ, we have been successfully migrating clients from a variety of other software providers for free.
Depending on the software you are currently with, the amount of data that we can import can vary substantially due to various technical limitations.
That said, regardless of what can be exported from your current system, the maximum we are able to import into SILQ is the following:
- Matters
- Contacts
- Unbilled Time Entries
- Unbilled Disbursements
- Unpaid Invoices
- Safe Custody
- Trust Balances
- Documents - It is important to note that whilst we can import your documents for you, we are unable to extract these. We will require the documents to be in an accessible folder on your computer so that we can access this and import it to SILQ for you in an appropriate folder strategy. We acknowledge that sometimes the size of the documents is quite large - in this instance it can be on an external hard drive that is plugged into your computer that we can work on remotely or it can be physically provided to us.
Please call us to discuss what data can be migrated from your current system as not all systems will export all data in a usable format and as such we are limited to what they export.
NOTE ABOUT TRUST DATA: Regardless of whether there is trust data available from your existing software, SILQ will not import trust transactions under any circumstances due to the nature of trust obligations and the limitations of our certification.
The process for Trust is that you will choose a date to stop entering Trust entries in the old system. You will then reconcile up until that date. From the following date (i.e. your transition date), we will enter your Trust balances from your old software into SILQ and you can then start adding in your Trust entries as normal into SILQ from the transition date.
During the transition period, for matters where they were opened in the OLD software and continued into SILQ, if a client requests a matter statement, you will need to ensure you have downloaded all matter statements from your previous software before leaving and send that in combination with the ongoing Statement now in SILQ.
NOTE ABOUT BILLED/PAID ITEMS: We do not import already billed items due to the differences in the way various accounting systems work in regards to things such as rounding and a number of other factors. These differences can lead to issues such as, but not limited to, small $0.01 discrepancies that can end up causing accounting nightmares and unnecessary confusion. For that reason, we do not import billed / paid items.
