Datafile Backup for SILQ Desktop
When using the Desktop, SILQ does not backup your data to the cloud, however does give you the option to backup your datafile yourself.
Firstly, SILQ has two types of Desktop Products - Standard & Plus.
If you are using Plus, you should call us to provide you with more information on how to set-up your backup.
Backing Up your Datafile using SILQ Desktop Standard
The option to set up a backup location for your datafile allows you to ensure the safety of your information. However, it is important to note that the backup process may take some time to complete, especially if your datafile is large. To minimize any impact on your work during the day, SILQ automatically creates the backup when you close the program. Therefore, it is recommended to close SILQ at the end of the day to allow for a smooth backup process.
First, click on the file tab and go into system settings.
In system settings navigate to the backup section on the list on the left and tick the first option to enable you to select the backup options
There are two simple options available to set up your backup in SILQ. Both options will initiate the backup process when you close down the SILQ program. To choose your preferred option, simply tick the corresponding box.
1. Select a backup location in another folder: By selecting this option, you can click on the folder icon and choose the folder where you want the backup to be created. It is highly recommended to choose a location such as OneDrive, Dropbox, or any other cloud storage on your computer. Alternatively, you can select a hard drive that can be disconnected from your computer. This ensures that you have a recent backup of your datafile in case something happens to your computer.
2. Send the backup to an email address: If you choose this option, you only need to enter the email address where you want the backup to be sent. You will also have the choice to tick the option "Don't use my email program, send it directly." However, this option is not required and is only useful if you have the specific SMTP information that needs to be entered.
